Nikon has announced the winners of the 2019 Small World Photomicrography competition, which invites photographers and scientists to present images of all objects visible under the microscope. This year, Teresa Zgoda and Teresa Kugler were in first place for their tortuous embryo-tortoise image, using a light and strenuous microscope. There were more than 2,000 entries from 100 countries for 2019, showing you the winning images in the competition
1st Place: Fluorescent turtle embryo by Teresa Zgoda and Teresa Kugler in Campbell Hall, New York, USA
2nd Place: Depth-color coded projections of three stentors (single-cell freshwater protozoans) by Dr. Igor Siwanowicz
